Students and staff are allowed to wear boots and jeans throughout the week to school and work.

Hundreds of Los Fresnos CISD students will take part in the annual Rodeo Parade, scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. The parade begins at Second and Alamo streets and continues up Arroyo Boulevard and ends at Los Fresnos High School.

All Los Fresnos CISD schools will participate in the annual Rodeo Parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 through the city with dance groups, bands and other performers.

The parade start time was moved up to an earlier start time last year to take advantage of cooler weather. The start time remains at 9:30 a.m. this year.

The theme of this year's parade is "Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas."

The three-day rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at the Rodeo Grounds, with a concert to follow. Saturday's Rodeo begins at 7 p.m., followed by another concert, with the final Rodeo scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Rodeo events include bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, mutton bustin' and a kids' calf scramble. The Friday night concert features David Lee Garza and Los Musicales and the Saturday night concert is headlined by Easton Corbin.

The Cameron County Livestock Show will be ongoing during the same three days. Several dozen Los Fresnos CISD students involved with FFA will be participating.

Three Los Fresnos CISD students who participated in the Cowgirl Pageant will be part of the Rodeo and Livestock Show. LFHS senior Aizza Zamarripa, Los Fresnos Elementary student Madison Stumbaugh and Lopez-Riggins Elementary student Melissa Jaramillo will also be part of the Rodeo float in the parade. All represent Los Fresnos FFA.
