The AMI receives an onsite visit from a Navy Commander every other year. Hale is the Area 10 manager for Texas ROTC programs, attended the AMI as the head inspector. On the other years, local commanders do the inspection.

"We've been hitting it hard for at least three weeks with knowledge and drills," LFHS Major David Arjona said. "This is the whole company and everyone has to be ready for anything they may be asked."

Local recruiters from the Army, Navy and Marine Corps assisted in the inspection.

The ceremony was a formal military event, and family and friends of the cadets were invited to attend. Special guests handed out awards.

Senior cadets of the unit took charge of the preparation and the execution of the AMI. Cadets must be prepared to answer questions posted to them by the inspectors, including orders of the infantry and matters relating to military service and its leadership.

The LFHS NJROTC will compete in its state competition Feb. 21-23 in College Station.
